I am very honoured to have contributed to this new publication in my role as volunteer at Griffith University Art Museum. When I am volunteering, I help with front of house and art writing, in this case transcribing and editing. I was pleased to learn more about Gordon Bennett through this project and to discover that we have many things in common - our focus on identity, our interest in labels as reductive, semiotics, and choosing to use visual and writing as vehicles to bring attention to identity-based discrimination in Australian society. Bennett identified as human - I identify as egalitarian. This publication, edited by Angela Goddard and Tim Riley Walsh, accompanies the Gordon Bennett retrospective on now at QAGOMA.
