In Transitions catalogue essay

Gen Memory

In May, I was commissioned by two separate artists to write catalogue essays for their projects.

The In Transitions project is a collaboration between photo media biochrome artist Renata Buziak, spoken word and poetry artist Vicki Kelleher, and drawing artist Zoe Wolfe, and considers the state of mind we enter when we leave one place for another, specifically, the 'transition' from mainland Cleveland to Minjerribah/North Stradbroke Island. The artists worked with local residents including the Quandamooka people of Minjerribah and visitors to the island, and asked them to complete surveys about their experiences when transitioning. Text from the surveys was then used in Kelleher's poetry, which is woven into the finished interdisciplinary works.
