Public space dress intervention

For the two weeks that my show The Semiotics of the Dress is on, there will be a public space intervention in the Griffith QCA Southbank concourse void. The artwork is called International Women's Day 2019 and consists of 42 dresses attached to rope and strung up above the main concourse/cafe space.

I received lots of positive feedback about the installation, with one staff member commenting that it had been the best part of her week. The dresses blew around gracefully from time to time. The idea was to mark International Women's Day with a celebration of colour using the dress as the sign for woman.

The above two photos were taken by Steve Mardon during opening night celebrations.
