A huge thank you to Allana and all the team at Salamanca Arts Centre in Nipaluna/Hobart for their support of my upcoming show The semiotics of the dress at Sidespace Gallery. The listing is now live on the Salamanca Arts Centre website and can be viewed here: https://www.salarts.org.au/event/the-semiotics-of-the-dress/

Don't get your dress dirty, 2021, acrylic artist's paint on altered found vintage handmade cocktail dresses, vintage timber hangers, dimensions variable

This is a show of political textile and installation art that considers the power of the sign of the dress, the problem of gender inequality for women in Australia, and feminism's paradoxical inability to incite positive change.

I am still very much in an intense making phase in the lead up to this show. I am also working on a long-form critical essay to accompany the artwork in place of my usual catalogue essay.
