Trauma recovery is like a garden.

The soil is best left unturned to preserve the mycorrhizal system, so don't dig it up.

Instead, build a no-dig garden over the top.

Compost the stuff you don't want, and use that to grow something new.

Water only what you want to keep, and the rest will wither away.

It's a slow process, and requires a lot of work, over a long period of time.

There is always something you could be doing, but remember to take time out to enjoy yourself, and acknowledge your progress.

You will have successes and failures - try to celebrate your growth, and let go of the rest.

Gardens are never finished, but one that is lovingly tended will live on and inspire others.
